Who We Are

For decades, we have been offering top-tier products for Confectionery, Bakery, and Ice Cream, alongside high-level service and advanced technical support and training for every professional. We collaborate with the largest raw material producers in Europe, exclusively, crafting new product concepts with them and for you. We constantly evolve our services to be right by your side whenever and wherever you need us, across Greece, Cyprus, and the Balkans.

In 2019, Stelios Kanakis SA became part of the diverse Norwegian group ORKLA, internationally active in various business sectors, including food. This move enriched our product range and granted us significant benefits stemming from synergies within the multinational group.

 

Our History

1985

The company is established by Mr. Stelios Kanakis and his wife Mary Kanakis, who, on April 23, 1985, received the first order of Dragsbaek Margarine.

1993

The individual enterprise evolves into a corporation under the name "STELIOS KANAKIS SA."

2000

Our state-of-the-art office and distribution center facilities are completed, situated on a privately-owned plot spanning 10,500 square meters in Acharnes, Attica.

2002

Negotiations begin for the sale of 20% of the company's shares on the Athens Stock Exchange.

2003

Facilities in Acharnes expand to 15,819 square meters, alongside an exclusive partnership agreement with the renowned French culinary school, ECOLE LENÔTRE, to conduct specialized seminars of the highest standards for professionals.

2003

In October, the Athens Center of Gastronomy, our Technical Training and Application Center, starts operations within our premises in Attica.

2004

The distribution of our products in the Cyprus market begins at an accelerated pace through a recognized local distributor.

2007

The STELIOS KANAKIS SA of Northern Greece starts operations at the SINDOS Industrial Park, housed in company-owned facility, marking the beginning of our export activities in the Balkans. This milestone also heralds the establishment of the "Thessaloniki Center of Gastronomy."

2007

In December 2007, our presence in Kosovo is strengthened through an exclusive distribution agreement with AR & BI SHPK.

2008

An exclusive collaboration agreement is signed with ALMA LIBRE LTD to promote and distribute STELIOS KANAKIS SA products in Bulgaria.

2008

In November, the company is honored with the prestigious award of 'Second Best Worldwide Partner' for its outstanding performance in pastry, ice cream, and desserts by ELLE & VIRE, the leading French producer of cream and dairy products.

2009

STELIOS KANAKIS SA and ALMA LIBRE LTD are awarded 3 Gold Medals in 3 different competitions at the international bakery and pastry exhibition BULPEK in Sofia, from November 11th to 14th, 2009.

2010

The company joins the ranks of "STRONGEST COMPANIES IN GREECE" by the ICAP Group, affirming its high creditworthiness.

2011

For the second consecutive year, the company is awarded the "ICAP STRONGEST COMPANIES IN GREECE 2011," CERTIFICATE ranking among the strongest creditworthy zones according to the ICAP Group.

In November, STELIOS KANAKIS SA and ALMA LIBRE Ltd won the gold medal in the pastry competition "Best Sweet: Flavor, Appearance & Innovation" during the international bakery and pastry exhibition BULPEK held in Sofia, Bulgaria, from November 9th to 12th, 2011.

2012

STELIOS KANAKIS SA wins the third prize in the "Business Awards CHRISSA-GEORGIOS OUZOUNIS 2011" in the category of BEST COMPANY FTSE-SMALL CAP/80 – 2011.

2014

The company earns a spot on the "Diamonds of the Greek Economy" list based on evaluation by STATBANK, assessing 10 economic indicators.

2015

Once again, the company is included in the "Diamonds of the Greek Economy 2015" list as one of the healthiest businesses in the country, according to financial evaluations by STATBANK.

2016

Recognized as a Growth Driver for the year 2016 in Greece based on financial metrics/indices, by Eurobank & Grant Thornton.

2017

Mr. Stelios Kanakis is honored with the "Self-Made Entrepreneur" award for his remarkable entrepreneurial activities at the "EEDEA AWARDS 2017" ceremony, while the company receives the "Diamonds of the Greek Economy 2017" award as one of the healthiest growing businesses in the country.

2018

Once again, on July 3rd, the company is honored with the Certificate of "Diamonds of the Greek Economy 2018" as one of the healthiest growing companies in the country.

2019

The company becomes a member of the Norwegian group Orkla Food Ingredients, operating internationally in various business sectors, including food, achieving product range expansion and significant benefits from the synergies of the multinational group.

2020

STELIOS KANAKIS SA continues its demonstrations to professionals, even amidst a pandemic, conducting them digitally, making it the only company in the industry to hold digital demonstrations.

2021

The company receives the Healthy Diet Award Bakery for its product Probody Low Carb by KOMPLET, recognized for its nutritional benefits to the human body.

2023

In March 2023, the company is honored by our German partner KOMPLET Abel + Schafer, being awarded as the "Best Business Partner Europe 2022'. This prestigious recognition celebrates our outstanding growth and commendable journey, as well as our outstanding marketing campaign executed in 2022 for bakery products with nutritional benefits.

Our People

Our people are the heart and soul of our operation, bringing our company’s goals to life with professionalism, dedication, and love for the industry.

Our highly trained technicians provide customers in Greece and abroad with comprehensive technical support, expertise for optimal application and showcasing of our products, new original recipes, and solutions to all daily challenges in bakery, confectionery, and ice cream production.

The Sales team ensures immediate, efficient, and above all, friendly service to our customers across Greece. Comprising more than 20 specialized professionals, they conduct daily visits to our clients while also serving our cooperating merchants and distributors in their regions.

The Marketing & Communication team drives the development of our portfolio, communicates our product concepts, and organizes exhibitions in collaboration with the European houses we represent.

Our Finance department, Purchasing and Logistics team, Customer Service team – available daily to assist our partners, processing orders promptly for the next day, the Quality Control team, and the Warehouse and Distribution team dynamically support the company’s activities and lead us into the next day.

Our Facilities

Located in Acharnes, Attica, our headquarters span over modern facilities covering 2,783 square meters on a 15,819 square meter-owned area. These facilities house our central offices, a state-of-the-art distribution center, and a standard technical training and application center.

Our exemplary functioning distribution center has a storage area of 1,589 square meters with a capacity exceeding 1,900 pallet positions, following the FIFO (First In – First Out) principle. With the ability to handle 18,000 tons annually and an average storage period of 25 days, we ensure daily service to you with cutting-edge refrigerated trucks, wherever and whenever you need us.

Within our premises lies the Athens Center of Gastronomy, a modern technical training center for bakery, confectionery, ice cream, catering, and cooking applications. Equipped with state-of-the-art production facilities and audiovisual technology, the Athens Center of Gastronomy allows professionals to attend demonstrations by renowned international chefs, theoretical courses, practical workshops, and high-standard seminars in collaboration with the leading French culinary school, Ecole Lenôtre.

Since March 2007, our Northern Greece branch operates in the Industrial Area of Sindos, a modern unit covering a total area of 2,231 square meters. Created to serve Macedonia, Thrace, and Thessaly and function as the company’s export hub in the Balkan region, it includes modern offices and warehouses with chambers of varying temperatures and humidity levels. Additionally, it hosts the Thessaloniki Center of Gastronomy, providing similar technical training services to professionals in Northern Greece and neighboring Balkan countries
